'Eyes-dropping'

Martin Everald /was just 'eyes-dropping' on this guy writing his journal on the subway -it's really interesting to think about how much we don't share

Yeah, so I was on the subway today and I saw this guy writing in his journal. Yes, I was over-the-shoulder reading, yes, it was wrong but it sorta doesn't matter because a) I don't know him and will probably never see him again b) my subway stop interrupted the reading c) a lot of what I read I don't remember -and again it has no relevance to me because of the points listed in (a). The whole point like I mentioned in my facebook status is that, naturally, there is a lot of things that we don't share. There's a lot of information that we keep to ourselves for a whole bunch of different reasons.

It's also a coincidence because at the moment I'm reading the novel "What Was She Thinking: Notes on a Scandal" by Zoe Heller (which was made into a movie,"Notes on a Scandal" (THE BEST MOVIE EVER, by the way). The main character Barbara Covett, is a avid journaler who is writing about a scandal between a teacher and student at their school. Anyways, what is really interesting in the movie (amongst other things) is the difference between what is said and what is written. Of course we all understand these normal paradigms but it's captivating to see what the result is and how the various events unfold.
